Crowned 2024 Emerging Artist of the Year at the Western Australian Country Music Awards, Savanah Solomon is cementing her status as one of Australia’s most compelling voices in the country and folk music scene. Born in Derby and raised among the wide red plains and abundant oceans of Western Australia’s Kimberley region, Savanah’s songwriting is deeply shaped by place—evocative, grounded, and rich with emotional honesty.
Drawing from influences spanning rock and roll to country and folk, Savanah writes songs that bring to life her experiences of the world around her. She first emerged in 2016 with her band Savanah and the Strays, delivering a feel-good brand of rock and roll that audiences found irresistible. Across the band’s four-year tenure, they performed at rodeos and festivals throughout Western Australia and released their acclaimed debut album Salt of the Earth, earning finalist nominations for Album of the Year at the Western Australian Country Music Awards and Best Country Act at the 2019 WAM Awards.
Following the band’s amicable split in 2020, Savanah continued her journey as a solo artist, releasing Lost in Love and Rainbow in 2021. In 2023, she released her rustically charming alt-country EP Where the River Meets the Sea. The title track, inspired by her hometown of Moore River, premiered on Double J and was named a finalist for Country Song of the Year at the WAM Awards.
Over the past two years, Savanah has entered a powerful new chapter. Her 2025 single Magnolias—an ode to her Nanna, Helen Sturgeon, and the remarkable women in her family—received national support with its debut on ABC Radio's Saturday Night Country before being added to full rotation on ABC Country.
She followed with I Don't Know You Anymore before releasing Someday Somewhere, which has quickly become her most successful release to date. The single debuted on Saturday Night Country with Beccy Cole, was added ABC Country on full rotation, reached No. 13 on the AMRAP Regional Radio Charts, entered the CountryTown Hot 50 Australian Country Songs Chart, and was nominated for Blues and Roots Song of the Year at the 2025 WAM Awards.
Savanah's live profile has continued to grow nationally. Recent highlights include opening for Wheatus and Kingswood, supporting Austin Mackay on his Chasing the Wheel Tour at Mojo's Bar in Fremantle, and performing at festivals including Nannup Music Festival, Playmakers Festival and the Newport Folk Festival in Melbourne as part of her first interstate headline tour. She has also been recognised with a nomination for WAM Regional Act of the Year 2025, underscoring her continued impact both locally and beyond.
There’s a whole world of hope, heartbreak and healing in Savanah’s songs. Warm, spacious instrumentation gives her distinctive voice room to shine, pairing heartfelt lyricism with melodies that evoke far horizons, crackling campfires and a sense of peace amongst the maelstrom of modern life.
Reflecting on her journey, Savanah says, “Music has always been a part of me. It’s in my blood.” Always charting her own course as a woman and an artist, one thing remains certain — wherever Savanah Solomon shares her music, her audience continues to grow.
“If Jewel and Joni Mitchell had a love child, it would be Savanah Solomon”~ Rose Parker

— Anika Luna, Triple J (Where the River Meets the Sea)
“Her enchanting voice and evocative storytelling draw listeners into her world, where they can’t help but be moved by the enduring melodies and poignant lyrical writing.
— Plastic Magazine (Where the River Meets the Sea)
“There is a gentle grace that Savanah Solomon brings to her music. It leans in equal measure in the darkness of alt-noir sounds and heartwarming storytelling place that country music sits.”
— Nkechi Anele, Triple J (Lost In Love)
“Wholesome, beautiful love unabashed and rolled out on top of a tight band.”
— Nkechi Anele, Triple J (Salt of the Earth)
“Solomon has the rare capacity to sing and perform while also playing guitar, without seeming like she’s hiding behind her instrument. Perth has far too many bands with reluctant fronts who look like they don’t really want to be the centre of attention. Solomon is not one of them. And that’s the point about fronting a band, people are meant to pay attention to you. Solomon knows this simple truth and lives it incredibly well.”
— Andrea Thompson, Around The Sound (Savanah and The Strays)
